SYRACUSE — Oshae Brissett delivered a dominant inside performance, and Elijah Hughes bounced back in style to help the Syracuse University men’s basketball team overcome a rare off night from star shooting guard Tyus Battle on Tuesday.
Brissett posted team highs with a double-double of 21 points and 17 rebounds, Hughes added 17 points on 6-for-11 shooting, and the Orange captured a 72-49 victory over Northeastern with a crowd of 20,416 on hand at the Carrier Dome.
Battle was held to a season-low two points for SU (6-2 overall), which won its fourth straight game ahead of Saturday’s nationally-televised clash against former Big East rival Georgetown, slated for 3:30 p.m. in the Carrier Dome.
“I tried to do anything to get us a win and not just a win but to win comfortably,” Brissett said. “I felt like going in there and grabbing those rebounds was something I needed to do to keep the energy up on the team and that helped us on the defensive end.”
