SYRACUSE — The Syracuse University football trio of Tom Coughlin, Larry Csonka and Floyd Little reunited on campus for the first time in more than 50 years on Saturday.
The three program icons — who together comprised the Orange backfield in 1966 — participated in a one-hour panel discussion to share stories from their decorated pro careers and Orange glory days with hundreds of fans outside the Carrier Dome prior to the SU football team’s annual spring scrimmage.
The group was also on the field after the game for photos with fans, signed autographs for a seemingly endless line of attendees that stretched halfway around the Dome, and visited with coach Dino Babers and members of the 2019 Orange earlier in the day.
The “legends panel” was highlighted by humorous stories about the trio’s playing days under coach Ben Schwartzwalder, and insight into their respective pro careers and personal backgrounds.
Little and Coughlin played halfback while Csonka started at fullback for SU’s 1966 squad that finished 8-3 overall and reached the Gator Bowl, earning the Lambert Trophy as the top Division I team in the East.
