Potsdam man charged with felony DWI

pDEKALB JUNCTION — State police on Jan. 5 charged Robert M. Fowler, 39, of 30 Leroy St., Potsdam, with felony aggravated driving while intoxicated./ppTroopers charge at 11:46 a.m. on Jan. 5 at 613 Welch Road in the town of DeKalb, they found Mr. Fowler covered by a blanket, asleep, in the back seat of a 2009 Dodge Journey parked at the end of the driveway of the residence, facing north. A resident at the home contacted troopers stating an unknown vehicle was parked at the end of his driveway and asked for a patrol to investigate it. The caller stated an individual was in the back seat covered with a blanket. /ppTroopers said they woke Mr. Fowler and saw an opened 18-pack of Blue Light beer in the back cargo area. Mr. Fowler submitted to a breath test and his blood alcohol content was determined to be 0.24 percent. State law says a BAC of 0.18 percent is the threshold for aggravated DWI. His charge was elevated to a felony due to two previous DWI convictions in the last 10 years, troopers said./ppMr. Fowler was arraigned in Gouverneur Town Court./p …read more
