Trinity Catholic School in Massena prepares to celebrate Catholic Schools Week

pMASSENA — A pancake breakfast Sunday morning kicked off Catholic Schools Week at Trinity Catholic School./ppNational Catholic Schools Week was started in 1974 by the National Catholic Education Association as an annual celebration of Catholic education in the United States. This year’s theme is “Catholic Schools: Learn. Serve. Lead. Succeed.”/ppAlthough the national celebration ran this year from Jan. 27 to Feb. 2, Trinity Catholic School moves it a little bit later in its calendar so it’s in the week leading up to mid-winter break, which starts on Feb. 18./ppSchools typically observe the annual celebration week with Masses, open houses and other activities for students, families, parishioners and community members, and Trinity is no exception./pp“It’s basically to help the rest of the community understand the value of Catholic education,” said Candace O’Neill, Trinity’s advancement director. “Nationally, it’s supposed to bring attention to Catholic schools in general.”/ppFor Trinity, it’s an opportunity for the entire school to celebrate together, she said./pp“For us, it’s our opportunity to celebrate with each other.
